Ribéry set for seat on bench

The countdown has begun. Saturday brings the last match of the season, the DFB cup final against Borussia Dortmund. Franck Ribéry has resumed the team training programme and will make the trip to Berlin, but it is unlikely that he will start the match. “I feel great, but I don't think I can manage 90 minutes,” Europe's footballer of the year proclaimed on Wednesday. “I can feel the pain in my back after training.” Arjen Robben and Mario Mandzukic, who had to break off training in the last couple of days, successfully completed Wednesday’s session.

National team friendlies for U-19 youths

The Bayern U-19 team coached by Heiko Vogel will be using their free weekend for some valuable match practice. Ahead of the final league match against VFB Stuttgart U-19 on May 25, they will be playing the U-19 national teams of Qatar and Georgia. On Thursday (6.30 pm) Vogel ‘s side face Qatar in Sportpark Heimsteten and on Sunday (4 pm) they meet Georgia in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. “These matches will be interesting. We’re looking forward to them,” Vogel said.
