The 2014 German Super Cup between FC Bayern and Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund will be played at Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday 13 August at 6 pm CET. The match is scheduled four days later than originally planned. “This is designed to give players involved in the World Cup more time to recover after the game,” said match organisers the German Football League (DFL). FCB return from the Audi Summer Tour of the USA on 7 August and the first round of the DFB Cup will be played on the weekend of 15 to 18 August.
Fingers crossed for Bayern trio
Joachim Löw has drawn one positive conclusion from Germany's ten-day training in South Tyrol. “I can only say one thing about the spirit in the camp: it's brilliant,” declared the Germany coach on Friday. There is “clear progress” with recently injured players Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer, the 54-year-old explained. However, it is too early for Lahm and Neuer to play in the friendly against Cameroon in Mönchengladbach on Sunday. Schweinsteiger is available again.
