Robben voted FCB Player of the Season

You the Bayern fans have made your choice, and a clear-cut one too! After the vote for FC Bayern Player of the Season closed at the end of June, Arjen Robben emerged as the clear winner. The Dutch ace received 30.9 percent of the votes cast, finishing comfortably ahead of Thomas Müller (17.4) and club captain Philipp Lahm (15.1). Robben scored 19 goals and provided 16 assists in 43 appearances last term. He scored the vital opener in the 2–0 DFB Cup final victory over Borussia Dortmund and became the first player in the history of the German knockout cup to score in three finals (2010, 2012 and 2014).

Robben wary of Costa Rica

Robben has continued his excellent form from the domestic campaign into the World Cup in Brazil, but prior to the Netherlands quarter-final meeting with Costa Rica in Salvador on Saturday the FCB star has warned his team-mates not to underestimate the Central American minnows. “I think they're a really good team. We have to stay focused,“ said the 30-year-old. The Dutch, who set off for Salvador on Thursday, have only fond memories of Arena Fonte Nova: it was the venue for the Netherlands’ stunning 5–1 victory over outgoing world champions Spain in their opening match at the tournament. Coach Louis van Gaal is definitely without midfielders Nigel de Jong (groin) and Leroy Fer (pulled hamstring).
