Eight Bayern men on international duty

Some seven weeks after the World Cup Final in Brazil and with the new Bundesliga season still only ten days old, the league takes a brief back seat for the first international break of the autumn. Alongside friendly matches, the schedule includes the opening round of qualifiers for Euro 2016 in France. fcbayern.de examines which of the club’s players are in action, and when and where they will feature.

Germany coach Joachim Löw has called up Manuel Neuer, Jérôme Boateng, Thomas Müller and Mario Götze for a re-run of the World Cup Final when the world champions take on Argentina in Düsseldorf on Wednesday. Four days later, on 7 September, Neuer and Co begin their European championship qualifying campaign against Scotland in Dortmund.

Summer signing Robert Lewandowski and Poland also go in search of qualifying points on Sunday when they face competition newcomers Gibraltar in Faro, Portugal. On the following day David Alaba and Austria welcome Sweden to Vienna, while Xherdan Shaqiri and Switzerland take on England in Basel.

After making his full international debut for Denmark in late May, FCB youngster Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is again a member of a 23-strong squad for a friendly against Turkey in Odense on Wednesday and his team’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier against Armenia in Copenhagen four days later.
