Eight FCB stars enter Euro 2016 qualifying

Just eight weeks after Germany’s triumph at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, the eyes of the footballing world turn to the next major tournament, Euro 2016 in France, with the first round of qualifiers due over the next few days.

A new record total of 53 nations have entered for the competition, divided into nine groups of five or six teams. The winners and runners-up plus the best of the third-placed teams qualify for the finals, with the remaining eight third-placed teams contesting a play-off round for the last four places in France.

A host of Bayern stars are poised to enter the qualifying competition, and fcbayern.de presents a summary of the upcoming fixtures:

Juan Bernat and Sinan Kurt are also representing their countries at junior level. Bernat and his Spain U-21 team-mates contest their final European championship qualifier on Tuesday 9 September against Austria in Puertollano at 7 pm. The Spanish have already won their group and are sure of a place in the play-offs. A day earlier, Kurt and the Germany U-19s face England in Oberhausen. The friendly kicks off at 6 pm CET.
