Reaction to HSV v FCB

Coach: We didn’t take our chances

“We can’t be satisfied,” lamented FCB skipper Philipp Lahm following a scoreless draw away to bottom club Hamburg. Pep Guardiola feared a result like that was possible: “Getting into the match was never going to be easy after the Champions League meeting with Manchester City.” The coach felt the second half at least had been “a bit better.”

Reaction to Hamburg v Bayern

Pep Guardiola: “Getting into the match was never going to be easy after the Champions League meeting with Manchester City. It was a bit better in the second half but unfortunately we failed to take our chances. We have to keep up the hard work because tough times lie ahead through to December.”

Philipp Lahm: “We can’t be satisfied when we draw. We could have won the game in the second half, but overall we didn’t do enough to win, especially before half-time. We go for it again on Tuesday.”

Manuel Neuer: “Basically we always want to win wherever we go. But we started really going for it a bit too late today, so all in all we have to be satisfied with the point.”

Joe Zinnbauer (HSV coach):“All credit to my team. A point against Bayern is a great result for a team in our situation. Everyone can see we’re fit, and we had great team spirit today as well. Our fans have gone home happy.”

Lewis Holtby (HSV): “We showed real desire out there today. It started in the dressing room when we were all geeing each other up, and everyone fought for everyone else out on the pitch today. We were totally up for it.”
