Munich, Monday 8 September 2014: At today’s regular meeting the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board unanimously agreed the following:

Herbert Hainer (60), adidas AG CEO, has relinquished the office of FC Bayern München AG supervisory board chairman, as planned and at his own request. At his suggestion Karl Hopfner (62), FC Bayern München eV president, was elected supervisory board chairman with immediate effect.

Herbert Hainer, a member of the board since its foundation, becomes Karl Hopfner’s senior deputy. Herbert Hainer was previously deputy chairman of the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board from 2002 until March 2014.

“Thanks to his long years of experience as a senior manager, Herber Hainer has been a great support, especially in the last few difficult months. He has helped to shape FC Bayern’s successful and positive public image. Personally and on behalf of FC Bayern München I wish to express sincere thanks for the trustworthy cooperation and I am looking forward to having him at my side as an important adviser in the future,” commented Karl Hopfner.

Following the resignation of Uli Hoeneß, then FC Bayern München eV senior vice-president Karl Hopfner was proposed as president by the advisory board and elected to the post at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 2 May 2014. Karl Hopfner is also chairman of charity foundation FC Bayern Hilfe eV, a member of the DFL League Association committee and senior deputy chairman of the UEFA club committee.
