Roma downed prior to FCB clash

AS Roma will arrive in Munich for next Wednesday’s Champions League Group E encounter on the back of a morale-sapping defeat: last season’s Serie A runners-up lost their to-of-the-table meeting with SSC Napoli 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. Gonzalo Higuain knocked Roma out of their stride with a third-minute opener for the men from Naples, before Spanish schemer José Callejon wrapped it up five minutes from time. Roma, playing with a full-strength line-up, remain second in the Serie A standings, just behind leaders Juventus but still ahead of Napoli. “Napoli were better than us today,” commented Roma boss Rudi Garcia, who remains confident for the Bayern trip: “We showed our true colours for 20 or 25 minutes in the second half, and that’ll give us encouragement for the games lying ahead.”
