Bastian Schweinsteiger is making good progress in his recovery from injury. “It’s conceivable he’ll be back in 2014,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was quoted as saying on Monday in respected football journal kicker. FC Bayern vice-captain Schweinsteiger has been sidelined with persistent tendon problems in his left knee and has not featured in a competitive match since Germany’s 1-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro on 13 July. Schweinsteiger is currently at work on an individually tailored sports rehab programme, “but he could well resume team training during the next international break,” the Bayern chairman revealed. This commences following FCB’s Bundesliga trip to Frankfurt next Saturday.
