Despite the current round of international matches, Bayern’s Säbener Strasse training ground was brimming with top-level experience on Tuesday lunchtime as the daily workout featured players boasting a combined total of more than 400 full international caps. Coach Pep Guardiola supervised eight of his men, including birthday boy Philipp Lahm, Xabi Alonso (113 caps each), Bastian Schweinsteiger (108) and Franck Ribéry (81). Dante (13), Rafinha (2), Sebastian Rode and Mitchell Weiser also took part in the session, along with U-19 striker Michael Eberwein and keepers Leopold Zingerle, Ivan Lucic and Heinz Müller.

DFB seminar for senior youth talents

The German FA (DFB) in cooperation with UEFA staged an educational seminar on Monday evening at the FCB elite development centre. The 45-minute presentation to the club’s U-19 playing, coaching and support staff covered the dangers and risks posed by the sports betting market. “As a preventative measure, we aim to inform the young talents about the criminal methods employed by match fixers and help them avoid becoming dependent,” commented Jens Futterknecht, one of the DFB officials  responsible for the complex and sensitive project.
