The FC Bayern Munich supervisory board has agreed a three-year extension to the existing contract with Matthias Sammer (47). The FCB sporting director and supervisory board chairman Karl Hopfner signed the new deal on Wednesday with the extension running from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2018.
“At its last meeting, the supervisory board unanimously agreed the contract extension with Matthias Sammer. This represents a major vote of confidence in him,” commented supervisory board chairman Hopfner. “FC Bayern have an established reputation for maintaining continuity in the management of the club and that will remain the same in the future. We are happy Matthias will continue as sporting director for an additional three years.”
“I would like to thank the supervisory board for their confidence in me and also a big thank you to my colleagues on the board of directors for their support,” commented Sammer. “I promise to carry on my work with the same levels of passion and intensity as before. We’re all aiming to achieve a lot at FC Bayern. I want to play my part in achieving our targets.“
