Pizarro: I’m back!

Claudio Pizarro was back on the pitch for the warm-up at the CSKA Moscow match. The Peruvian then completed his first full training session on Thursday morning. “It was very good. I’m really happy,” said Pizarro in an interview with FCB.tv. The striker, who suffered a torn thigh muscle in training at the start of November, is hoping to return to the FC Bayern squad for the Augsburg game at the weekend. “The coach will make his decision. But I feel good and I’m back!”

Reina back in goal

And there is also good news regarding Pepe Reina. The Spanish keeper completed a number of goalkeeping drills on the training ground on Wednesday as part of his rehab programme. Reina picked up a calf injury at the start of October.

Lewandowski remains Poland captain

Robert Lewandowski remains captain of Poland. “After this year’s qualifiers and a thorough review I’ve come to the decision that Robert Lewandowski is my choice as captain of the national team,” wrote Poland head coach Adam Nawalka on the fan page of the Polish Football Association. Lewandowski proved in the internationals that he is a “real leader” and is always prepared to accept responsibility, explained the Poland boss. The Bayern striker takes over on a permanent basis from Jakub Blaszczykowski who is sidelined with a long-term injury.
