FCB honorary president Franz Beckenbauer and Brazilian football legend Pele joined forces on Friday to illuminate New York's iconic Empire State Building in green. The pair pushed the button that lit up one of the city's most famous landmarks in the colours of the New York Cosmos, marking the reborn club's opening fixture of the new season at the weekend. Pele (74) played for Cosmos from 1975 to 1977, the year in which Beckenbauer (69) left FC Bayern and joined the New York club. The Kaiser played there until 1980 and then again in 1983.
