Austria claim FCB Youth Cup honours

The last week of the fourth FCB Youth Cup ended on Sunday with a tournament at the Allianz Arena, featuring passionate support and attractive football on top. After 15 exciting matches Austria secured the title with four wins and a draw. All the teams came together afterwards to enjoy a farewell lunch at the Allianz Arena. It was certainly a successful event where everybody was a winner.

Six nations took part in this year's competition. In addition to a number of FC Bayern youth coaches, FCB Brand Ambassador Paul Breitner watched the tournament at the Allianz Arena. "It was a great and very fair tournament and the performances are improving year by year. You could see that everybody was really happy to be here" commented Breitner, who scouted the youngsters in the qualifying tournaments played in their home countries. A large and interested crowd ensured a good atmosphere at the Allianz Arena.

Winners Austria, who received the trophy from Breitner, were followed by runners-up Germany, with Thailand, USA, China and Japan taking the following places. During the week the talented youngsters had the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of the FCB youth section. The players aged between 14 and 16 also had a great programme of events away from the pitch. In addition to a city tour they watched Bayern's last Bundesliga match of the season against Mainz and experienced the excitement of the trophy handover for themselves.
