O'zapft is! With these words (“It’s tapped!”) Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter officially opened the 182nd Oktoberfest by ceremonially tapping the first barrel of beer at midday. Well away from the hustle and bustle of the world-famous Wiesn, FC Bayern are focused on the away trip to SV Darmstadt 98. In the build-up to the first meeting between the clubs at the Böllenfalltor stadium in more than 33 years, fcbayern.de checks out the facts and stats.
FC Bayern have lost none of their last 14 Bundesliga matches during the Oktoberfest (11 wins, three draws) and have kept 13 clean sheets in that time.
Bayern are especially strong on Matchday 5, taking on average 2.54 points in the fifth game of the season (40 wins, seven draws, three defeats), more than on any other matchday. Bayern have also scored 134 goals on Matchday 5, the most by any team on any given matchday.
The Reds have won their last 21 Bundesliga matches against promoted clubs, scoring an average of 3.4 goals per game.
FCB are unbeaten in four Bundesliga meetings with Darmstadt (three wins, one draw), scoring 10 goals and conceding four. Curiously, the Lilies are on precisely one goal per game in the four meetings with Bayern.
The teams last played each other more than 33 years ago on 23 January 1982. Only two members of the teams’ combined current squads had already been born, FCB’s Xabi Alonso and Tom Starke.
Darmstadt are undefeated in their last 14 matches at the venerable Böllenfalltor Stadion (seven wins, seven draws).
Including last season’s second division campaign, 14 of Darmstadt’s last 20 goals have come from dead-ball situations. Set plays led to two of the Lilies’ four Bundesliga goals so far this term.
