Following a three-day break, the senior FC Bayern players resumed training on Monday afternoon. Pep Guardiola took charge of a group comprising 16 players, including Philipp Lahm, Xabi Alonso, Javi Martínez and Rafinha. Also among their number was Jan Kirchhoff, who joined his team-mates out on the practice ground for the first time since returning to Munich in the summer. The 25-year-old underwent Achilles tendon surgery in mid-June and last made a competitive appearance in Schalke colours on 16 May.

Franck Ribéry continued his programme of light running on Monday, for which he was joined by Mehdi Benatia, who is rebuilding his fitness after a spell on the sidelines with a muscular problem. Juan Bernat (groin) is a step further and had the ball at his feet. Arjen Robben resumed parts of the team training schedule last week but joined Holger Badstuber in the performance center on Monday for weights and stamina drills. Sebastian Rode is currently restricted by a hamstring problem, and Mario Götze (torn muscle tendon) is out of action for up to three months.

The first-team squad have the day off on Tuesday, but when the players report for training on Wednesday the focus will be on Saturday afternoon's Bundesliga trip to Werder Bremen. The club's current internationals will also resume training at the Säbener Strasse after returning from national team duties.
