Eleven Bayern men on international duty

Euro 2016 qualifying is approaching its climax, with just two matchdays to go in the contest for guaranteed berths in France, places in the play-offs from 12 to 17 November, or the disappointment of missing out on next summer’s European championships. At the present time, things are looking good for FC Bayern’s current international stars.

David Alaba and Austria are already home and dry in Group G, with nothing more than pride and prestige at stake in the meetings away to Montengro and at home to Liechtenstein. Germany also look odds-on to book one of the two direct qualifying spots in their group as Joachim Löw’s team need only a point from Thursday’s trip to face Ireland. Poland with Robert Lewandowski, currently second in Group D behind Germany, and Spain with Thiago, who are top of Group C, can also seal places in France without outside help.

By contrast, 2018 World Cup qualifying gets underway in South America this week. The opening round of matches includes the mouth-watering clash between Chile with Arturo Vidal and Brazil with Douglas Costa on Thursday. lists the upcoming matches featuring FC Bayern players.
