Applause rang out when Arjen Robben took to the practice ground at Monday's open training session. The Dutchman joined Joshua Kimmich and Rafinha for a punishing workout including shooting practice, dribbling and sprints. Robben is continuing to make good progress as he recovers from a groin injury sustained while playing for the Netherlands in early September. The winger has been sidelined since then, but FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has voiced hopes that the 31-year-old might return to action after the current international break.

Benatia up and running

Mehdi Benatia is also hard at work on a comeback. The Morocco defender put in a few gentle laps of the training ground on Monday for the first time since tearing a muscle in his thigh. Benatia has been out of action since 22 August, the day of the Bundesliga trip to Hoffenheim on Matchday 2.
