Bayern do not have to wait long before discovering the identity of their next opponents in the DFB Cup as the draw for the last sixteen takes place this Sunday, 1 November, from 19.30 CET during the Sky90 show on TV. The pairings will be drawn by musician Vanessa Mai with proceedings overseen by DFB general secretary Helmut Sandrock. The last sixteen ties will be played on 15 and 16 December 2015.
Lahm passes cup milestone
The match in Wolfsburg was Philipp Lahm’s 50th appearance in the DFB Cup. No other current pro has played more often in the competition. Former FCB man Claudio Pizarro of Werder Bremen could join Lahm on 50 appearances if he plays on Wednesday evening. The all-time ranking is headed by Mirko Votava, who featured in a total of 79 cup ties for Bremen and Dortmund.
First-timers in Wolfsburg
At the other end of the scale, Kingsley Coman made his first German cup appearance in Wolfsburg. The Frenchman’s eight games for Bayern so far have yielded two goals and four assists. Douglas Costa also broke new ground, as the summer signing opened his cup scoring account in his second appearance in the competition. It was also the Brazilian’s first goal away from home since joining Bayern.
