Top-class football and celebrations in India
Mathakondapalli Model School are the winners of the FC Bayern Youth Cup India! Witnessed by world champion and FCB legend Paul Breitner, the team from Bangalore beat Nalanda Public School Team B from Delhi 1-0 in a thrilling final last weekend.
A total of more than 300 school teams from Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata competed in the fourth edition of the tournament.
FC Bayern Youth Cup patron Paul Breitner travelled to Delhi to see the teams battle it out and to select the ten best players to represent Team India in the Youth Cup World Final at the Allianz Arena in May 2017. Among others, teams from China, the US, Thailand and Austria will compete in the world final.
Paul Breitner was impressed by the tournament: "It was a great weekend and a pleasure to observe so many talented players. I've been visiting India on a regular basis since 2011, and I'm glad about the development football has taken here over the last few years."
