Increase font size Text size

Allianz Arena, Berlin, Marienplatz: the championship shield has travelled a lot since last Saturday's handover. On Tuesday 22 May it will take up residence at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt. No less a personality than Jérôme Boateng will deposit the trophy for the 28th championship title in its allotted display cabinet. The world champion is expected at 12.30 CEST, so come in time.

Jérôme Boateng will miss the cup final with injury, but the defender has played a crucial role in FC Bayern's successes with season. After a year full of injuries the 29-year-old has been in top form this term. Who could be a better courier than the centre-back who has won six Bundesliga titles since joining FC Bayern in 2011? Boateng has won 15 trophies that are on display at the Erlebniswelt, so visitors have reason to look forward to seeing a likeable key player deliver the shield. And who knows? Maybe Boateng will bring a second trophy...

Trophy handovers are a tradition at the Erlebniswelt. Dante (2013), Pep Guardiola (2014), Arjen Robben (2015), Robert Lewandowski (2016) and Philipp Lahm (2017) acted as couriers in the last few years. The original Meisterschale will be on display for a few weeks from Tuesday before it will be replaced by an official replica.
