FC Bayern Youth Cup

The FC Bayern Youth Cup looks back at a long history in India. The tournament took place for the first time in 2012 and was continued in 2014, as well as 2016 to 2018. Thanks to the long-standing support of adidas, the project was again jointly implemented in 2019.

The qualifications for the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2019, which can only be entered as a school team, started in November 2018 in the following cities. Selected schools were invited.

  • Delhi 24th & 25th of November
  • Mumbai 24th & 25th of November
  • Bangalore 24th & 25th of November
  • Srinagar 1st & 2nd of December
  • Chennai January 2019
  • *Kolkata Cup in July 2018*

More than 250 schools and over 2,000 talented youth players took part in the five qualification rounds. The best two teams were invited to the National Final on the 2nd and 3rd of February in Delhi, which took place at the adidas Base. FC Bayern legend and 1998 World Champion Bixente Lizarazu attended the tournament. He showed some tricks on the ball to the young talents, gave valuable tips for future games and ensured special moments. The tournament was supported by our partners adidas and Qatar Airways. In the final, the representatives of the Army Boys School from Bangalore won 2:1 against the players of the DPS East, which are also from Bangalore. Therefore, they could represent their country as "Team India" in the World Final of the FC Bayern Youth Cup in Munich in May.

The winner, the Army Public School from Bangalore, was looking forward to a 5-day training camp with FC Bayern in Munich and many highlights. Besides a "Freestyle Football Challenge", in which Team India was particularly enthusiastic about and loudly cheered their country to victory, the personal Meet & Greet with Manuel Neuer was an unforgettable experience for the players. On Saturday, the youngsters visited the last Bundesliga home match in the Allianz Arena, before the boys themselves entered the "sacred grass" the next day to determine the winner of the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2019. Team India faced teams from China, USA, Singapore, Thailand, Nigeria and Germany and finished sixth.

We are looking forward to again welcoming Team India for the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2020 in Munich.
