Ten weeks ago, FC Bayern basketball celebrated its first title win in 59 years. The season was a resounding success, and now coach Svetislav Pesic and his players have only one goal in mind for the new season: defend the title. Familiar faces like Americans Bryce Taylor and John Bryant returned to the Audi Dome along with their teammates on Thursday to officially kick off their pre-season training.
Taylor and Bryant were joined by many of the team's new players: Vasilije Micic, Dusko Savanovic and Daniel Mayr. Coach Pesic is very much looking forward to working with Bayern's new personnel, "we were looking for players who fit the team not only from a sporting but also from a human perspective." Bayern's German international contingent (Heiko Schaffartzik, Robin Benzing and Lucca Staiger) will miss the first couple of days training as they are currently participating in Germany's European Championship qualifying campaign.
The team faces an intensive preparation process in the coming six weeks with a ten-day training camp in Bruneck, Südtirol and several test matches. Click here for the team's full pre-season training schedule.
