Bayern's Gaugigl in U20 World Cup Final with Germany

FC Bayern midfielder, Jennifer Gaugigl, and the German national team have reached the final of the U20 Women's World Cup in Canada after beating France 2-1 in the semi-final on Wednesday. Lena Petermann, who plays for the UCF Knights at the University of Central Florida, scored the matchwinner in the 81st minute in a dramatic match in Montreal.

Germany overcame the United States, China and Brazil in the group stage to finish on top before eliminating hosts Canada and France in the knockout rounds. Besides Petermann, the team features two other players who play in the US; Marie Christin Becker who plays for the Harvard Crimson and Franziska Jaser who plays for the NC State Wolfpack at North Carolina State University.

Germany take on Nigeria in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on Sunday, August 24th. A win for Germany would mean the third title in ten years after winning it in 2004 and 2010, and tie the USA for most U20 World Cup titles.
