FC Bayern return to league action on Thursday (16:00 local time) as they prepare to take on Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern currently sit third in the standings and will try to extend their unbeaten start to the season while trying to close the gap on Wolfsburg and Potsdam ahead of them. Despite the many long-term injuries, Bayern have had an impressive start to the season, getting points against both last year's champion and runners-up while reaching the last sixteen of the German Cup.
Thomas Wörle's team now face a tough task against a side that have beaten Bayern twice in Leverkkusen in the last two years. "We are the only team in the Bundesliga who have had to play three away games in the last week or so," Wörle said. "In the last two seasons, we couldn't take any points in Leverkusen. We know their quality but at the same time are very motivated ourselves." Bayern will still be without long-term absentees Leonie Maier, Carina Wenninger, Sarah Romert and lena Lotzen.
