American Bryce Taylor new Bayern captain

American Bryce Taylor has been named new FC Bayern Munich Basketball captain. The 27-year-old shooting guard has been with the club since 2013 and extended his contract 2017 this summer. "We are excited for Bryce. He is our captain now. He earned himself a good reputation within the team with his professionalism," said FCBB coach Svetislav Pesic. "His experience and strong sense of identification with FC Bayern motivates the players around him."

Taylor was a key figure in Bayern's title-winning campaign last season. He scored an average of 11.4 points in 47 games and impressed with his great athleticisim. And now the California native is expanding his role off the court. "The armband is a great honor for me, a sign of respect and responsibility for the team," Taylor said. "I see myself as a representative of the team and FC Bayern, on and off the court. I'm thankful for this new challenge. I don't have to change much. We're going to stick together like last year under Steffen Hamann."

This will be Taylor's sixth year in the Basketball Bundesliga. The University of Oregon graduate played one year in Italy before taking his game to Germany where he played for Bonn, Berlin and Quakenbrück. Bryce, we're 100% behind you!
