Next up for FC Bayern in the Allianz Women's Bundesliga is a regional derby, or Südderby as it is known, against fellow southerners, SC Freiburg. The two sides will square off on Sunday at 14:00 local time in Freiburg's Mösle-Stadium.
"In the Südderby we always encounter competitive games," said Bayern coach Thomas Wörle. This will be Bayern's first away game of the new league season after opening with a 1:1 draw against Frankfurt last week. "Freiburg were very well organized in their opener against Wolfsburg and had a quick transition game. But we want to get a result there." Bayern will still be without the injured Leonie Maier, Laura Feiersinger, Carina Wenninger, Sarah Romert and Lena Lotzen.
But Wörle will be able to call on new signing, Amber Brooks, for the first time. The American midfielder is on loan with Bayern from NWSL side Portland Thorns until the end of the year. She was only able to watch from the stands in the team's first league match. History favors Bayern in this fixture. In 12 league matches, Bayern had the upper hand nine times with 36 goals scored and only 12 conceded.
