FC Bayern basketball won their second pre-season tournament in Mulhouse, France over the weekend. They did suffer their first defeat in six games, however, but continued their fine form in pre-season ahead of the new league season next month. Coach Svetislav Pesic' team lost on the third matchday of the tournament against Greek champions Panathinaikos (75:85). They did win their first two matches against French vice-champions Strasbourg (78:72) and Serbian cup winners Red Star Belgrade (96:70). That was enough to ensure a tournament win, which will only add confidence ahead of their Basketball Bundesliga opening game on October 2.
"Overall the tournament was very good for us, especially against international teams to see where we stand, " said Pesic. This coming weekend, Bayern continue their preparation in the "Kameha Cup" where they will take on French side BCM Gravelines Dunkerque (Saturday, 19:00 local time) and the winner of hosts Telekom Baskets of Bonn or Polish champions PGE Turow Zgorzelec. The final will be played in Bonn on Sunday (15:00 local time).
