Dremmler on GPS and Bayern's US youth partnership

FC Bayern Junior Team Operations Manager Sebastian Dremmler and Chief Scout Jürgen Jung visited the facilities of Global Premier Soccer (GPS) over the weekend as part of their US partnership to foster youth development. The visit comes nearly one month after their partnership announcement and two weeks after GPS Executive Staff visited FC Bayern’s Youth Academy at Säbener Straße.

In addition to coaching clinics for select GPS teams in Massachusetts and Maine, Dremmler and Jung presented GPS staff with the structure, philosophy, and curriculum of Bayern Munich’s Youth Academy. Dremmler and Jung concluded the visit with a trip to Boston to join Bayern fans watch FC Bayern take on Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Speaking with fcbayernmunich.com, Dremmler talked about the partnership and his thoughts on the first visit to GPS facilities. Dremmler, who has been active with the FC Bayern Junior Teams since 1997, reinforced Bayern's commitment to the partnership. “The aim is to help GPS in its education and training, to refine the structures. Above all, we want to help GPS to become more renowned, thereby increasing its reach.”

On his first impressions of GPS and the facilities, Dremmler praised the staff’s hard work and organization. While the infrastructure can be improved, it will be optimized by GPS’s plans to build their own headquarters in 2015. Dremmler also stressed the importance of contact on a frequent basis as part of the first steps in the partnership: “Through regular meetings via telephone or video conference, we will work together on the FCB & GPS soccer philosophy,” said Dremmler. Giving GPS an understanding of FC Bayern’s philosophy will allow for equal education across all 11 states, said Dremmler.

“We are trying to create education guidelines so that we may educate the ‘next generation’ (U9-U12) according to European standards,” Dremmler said of the experience FC Bayern’s Youth Academy can bring to GPS and youth soccer in the U.S. A month in, the FCB and GPS' partnership is well underway.
