FC Bayern Basketball swept through Group K of the Eurocup Last 32 round after their 87-63 dismantling of the Brose Baskets of Bamberg.

Five Munich players scored in double figures that underlined the team's unity in dominating their Basketball Bundesglia rivals, led by Vladimir Stimac who tallied a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

After wins in all six group games, Head Coach Svetislav Pesic will prepare his team to face the defending Spanish league champions Valencia Basket in the next round of the Eurocup. The Eighth-Finals matchup tips off first in Spain on either March 3rd or 4th, and the teams return to Munich one week later, Mar 10th or 11th.

Bayern's next game is at home for a BEKO BBL Valentine's Day affair on Saturday, February 14th against MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg. Tip-off is set for 20:30 at the Audi Dome.

Scoring by quarter (FCBB - BAMB): 23-17, 20-9, 20-19, 22-18.

FC Bayern team: John Bryant (15 points/6 rebounds), Dusko Savanovic (15), Vladimir Stimac (12/14 reb), Vasilije Micic (10), Bryce Taylor (10), Robin Benzing (9), Heiko Schaffartzik (7/6 assists), Anton Gavel (7), Jan Jagla (2), Paul Zipser, and Lucca Staiger. DNP: Daniel Mayr.

Svetislav Pesic, Head Coach, FCBB: "Vladimir Stimac and Anton Gavel both played exemplary today. Gavel took Bradley Wanamaker, without question one of the best players in Germany, completely out of the game. It does not happen often for a German team to go unbeaten in the Eurocup Last 32 round. This is a commendable achievement. In the next round, we have the all-important home advantage, as the second game will be held in our arena."

Anton Gavel, Guard, FCBB: "We only gave up 63 points. In the second quarter, we allowed nine points. Our defense decided the game today. We started well and quickly established the lead. For us it was important to move onto the next round with six wins."

1st Quarter
FCBB Head Coach Svetislav Pesic sent Anton Gavel, Bryce Taylor, Paul Zipser, Dusko Savanovic and John Bryant to the court as the starting five in the last game of Group K in the Eurocup Last 32 round. Team captain Taylor scored the first basket for Bayern, but Bamberg's Dalibor Bagaric answered with an emphatic two-handed slam to tie the game early at 2-2 (2' min). The Franconians stayed close with Munich but Savanovic went on a tear, scoring the Reds' next eight points. After his second three-pointer, Bamberg head coach Andrea Trinchieri called timeout (14-8, 5'). Both teams were sloppy at the beginning, but at the same time demonstrated tremendous intensity. Vladimir Stimac brought much-needed energy off the bench and controlled the area under the basket. "Steam Machine" scored two baskets helped keep Bayern ahead of Brose 23-17 after the first quarter.

2nd Quarter
From the start of the quarter, the defending German league champions were in full-throttle. Heiko Schaffartzik hit a three-pointer for the team's first double digit lead (28-17, 12'). Most of the Audi Dome crowd of 6,048 enjoyed a spectacular defensive effort by the Reds, especially after forcing eight Bamberg turnovers in the first quarter. Munich reaped the benefits on offense, hitting 68% of their shots in close range in the first half, and going on a 15-2 to build a 43-21 lead (18'). Munich stepped off the gas a bit at the end of the quarter, allowing Bamberg to get within 43-26 at halftime.

3rd Quarter
The Baskets continued their run to start the second half, Gavel's three-pointer was the only bright spot during the visitor's 14-3 run. Bamberg were now within 48-37. Shortly after Bryant visited the charity stripe twice and hit all four of his free-throws, Baskets head coach Trinchieri earned his second technical and was ejected. This ruined the momentum that his team had, and allowed Munich to shake off their doldrums. Taylor connected for a three-pointer (56-39, 27'), and Vasilije Micic scored a couple of times, creating a buzz in the crowd with his moves. Munich back on top comfortably 63-45 into the final quarter.

4th Quarter
The fans couldn't be more satisfied in the fourth quarter. Munich defended at a high level and stifled any comeback thoughts that Bamberg had in mind. The attack from Bayern was a team effort, Stimac scoring to effectively decide the Bavarian derby in the Eurocup (79-59, 38'). Micic and Robin Benzing connected on consecutive three-pointers to finish off the scoring and send the Bayern fans home happy after their second consecutive blowout of Bamberg in the Eurocup. Final score 87-63.
