FC Bayern Basketball’s title winning side has been honoured by the city of Munich for their sporting performance last season. Nihad Djedovic and Demond Greene were present at the event, which saw the side receive an award as a result of lifting their first German title since 1955.
“I feel like I belong here because I also lived here as a child. Playing for Bayern means a huge amount to me so this award is special,” said Djedovic after receiving the medal for “incredible sporting performances.”
Club President Karl Hopfner, vice president Dieter Mayer, as well as Marko Pesic and Volker Stix, were present at the event. After the event Hopfner said: “Our team deserved this award and I’m delighted that their efforts have been awarded. Basketball means a lot to me.”
Christine Strobl, mayor of the city, stressed the importance of the triumph for the city’s sporting scene: “I’m delighted that we can celebrate with our basketball team.” Other award winners included the U17 women’s football team, who lifted the national title.
