FC Bayern Munich has signed Spanish international Verónica “Vero” Boquete (28). Boquete will make the move to German champions FC Bayern from league rivals Frankfurt on July 1, 2015, signing a two-year contract.
After signing Sara Däbritz and Lisa Evans, FC Bayern look to add to their winning squad for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming season with three tournaments lined up. The experienced international and offensive player Verónica Boquete featured in the last two Champions League finals with her previous clubs, and will join the Bavarians this summer after the Women’s World Cup.
Verónica Boquete: “I’m thankful to my current club 1. FFC Frankfurt for giving me the opportunity to play in one of the best leagues in the world, the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga, and win the UEFA Women’s Champions League, something that’s always been a dream of mine. Now I’m starting a new project, a new challenge, with a new team and new surrounding that’s still unfolding and that has the aspiration to be one of the best in Europe and discover itself along the way. I’d like to be a part of this journey and continue to grow as a player and person myself. I’m convinced FC Bayern Munich is the right step at the right time in my career because we’re pursuing the same goals and desires. I’m very happy to be at one of the best clubs in the world and look forward to meeting my new teammates and coaching staff so we can fight for our goals together.”
Coach Thomas Wörle: “Verónica Boquete is an excellent player with witty playfulness and creativity as well as an experienced player personality. She’s very versatile in the offense and will strengthen our attack. I look forward to working together at FC Bayern Munich.”
