Kurt Landauer film features at K+S Film Festival

The film on FC Bayern honorary president Kurt Landauer, A Life for Football (Landauer: Der Präsident), made its U.S. premiere at the annual Kicking + Screening (K+S) Soccer Film Festival this weekend in New York.

The screening was preceded by a panel discussion moderated by Greg Lalas (K+S, MLSsoccer.com), featuring German Consul General Brita Wagener and FC Bayern U.S. Managing Director Rudolf Vidal, and covered a number of topics ranging from club history to how fans keep Kurt Landauer’s legacy alive.

“The film is a great example of the relationship between the club and our fans,” said Vidal. “It was because of the fans that Kurt Landauer’s story resurfaced and reminded everyone of his contributions to FC Bayern, which laid the foundations for future success.”

The 2014 film, directed by Hans Steinbichler, depicts the return of Kurt Landauer, FC Bayern’s Jewish president, to the club in post-war Germany, and his efforts to rebuild the club in its most challenging time.

The K+S Soccer Film Festival brings soccer fans and film enthusiasts together to celebrate the game through film, featuring local as well as international films. In its seven years running, the festival has traveled across the U.S. as well as around the globe, with screenings in London, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi, and various other international destinations.
