Americans join team ahead of training camp

FC Bayern’s basketballers are gradually coming back to Munich and the last to arrive were America’s John Bryant and Deon Thompson, who has returned to FCBB. They will join the rest of Bayern’s team, whose national players have been preparing for the start of the European Championship in September. With everyone now present, FCBB will head to their training camp in Riva del Garda on Sunday.

There is great anticipation at the beginning of pre-season with the arrival of power forward Deon Thompson. "I’m crazy excited to be back in Munich at the Audi Dome," said the 26-year-old who, having arrived recently, has already passed his medical exam at team doctor Jochen Hahne’s practice. He is especially looking forward to playing with the team after last year’s title-winning season and the awesome atmosphere in home games at the Audi Dome.

Both Americans are confident they will be able to celebrate more success this season. "I really want to help the team. I still have the potential to improve at my age. I want to do that this season. I’m confident that we have a lot of quality in the squad and that we will play a good season," said Deon Thompson, who has been a German, Chinese and an Israeli champion in the last two years.

The Bayern team will begin to lay the foundations for a successful season on Sunday at their training camp in Riva del Garda. On Sunday morning team captain Bryce Taylor will lead his team out once more, and on the following Thursday (27th August 18:30 CEST), FCBB will play its first friendly of the season against Italian Eurocup participants Dolomiti Energia Trentino at Palagarda. Bayern will spend five days in the Italian holiday region of Lake Garda preparing for the upcoming season.

The first official game of the new season will be played at the Audi Dome on Friday 2nd October, as Bayern hosts EWE Baskets Oldenburg.
