FC Bayern have signed U.S. international Kristie Mewis (24). Mewis joins the German champions on a one-year contract from the Boston Breakers (National Women's Soccer League, U.S.).
The midfielder from Weymouth, Massachusetts has made 33 appearances for the Boston Breakers, played for the U.S. U-17 and U-20 youth teams and made her first-team debut in 2013.
Kristie is the fifth FC Bayern signing this season following Veronica Boquete, Sara Däbritz, Lisa Evans and Nicole Rolser to help reinforce the team ahead of the three upcoming competitions this season - Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and Champions League.
Kristie Mewis: “I'm looking forward to being a part of FC Bayern Munich, whose team and club I've heard so many great things about. It's always been a dream of mine to play in Germany. I'm looking forward to jumping right into training with the team and to bringing my strengths as well.
Coach Thomas Wörle: “We're responding to Mana Iwabuchi's recent injury along with other injured players with the short-term signing of Kristie Mewis. Kristie is a technically adept, goal-hungry midfielder, and adaptable in the offense. Kristie will definitely need some time to settle in but I'm looking forward to working together with a very talented player.
