Exactly 50 years after the first FC Bayern fan club "Steinsberg" was founded, Germany's record champions can celebrate a major milestone. On August 17, 2015, the 4,000th official FC Bayern fan club was officially recognized. Fan club "#rotwienie Oberopfingen" comes from the small town of Kirchdorf an der Iller from Baden-Württemberg and has 95 registered members.
With the latest addition, FC Bayern becomes one of the most popular soccer clubs in the world, with a combined 4,000 official fan clubs comprised of 309,425 fan club members from around the world.
In Germany alone there are 3,462 official FC Bayern fan clubs with 274,434 registered fan club members.
Internationally, there are 538 FC Bayern fan clubs registered with 34,991 members spanning Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Israel, Thailand, to the three farthest FC Bayern fan clubs in the world in China and Australia.
In the U.S. alone the number of officially registered Bayern fan clubs has grown from 8 to an impressive 88 in the past year following the team's visit to the U.S. last summer, making the U.S. the third most well-represented country following Germany (3,452) and Austria (125).
"FC Bayern Munich is a club with its roots in Munich and Bavaria but one that also stirs emotion around the world," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of FC Bayern AG. "We welcome our 4,000th fan club from Baden-Württemberg into the Bayern family and will do everything to make sure our supporters are happy and content with their FC Bayern and can celebrate wherever they are."
