Bayern miss out on victory in Bonn

FC Bayern Basketball have narrowly missed out on lifting the 2015 BasketsCup in Bonn: Svetislav Pesic’s side lost 77-76 to Polish champions Stelmet Zielona Gora in Sunday’s final.

Bayern, who were once again without Deon Thompson, were 27-17 in front after the first break and it was 37-37 at half-time, however, things went in favour of the Polish side after they found their rhythm quicker than FCBB after the interval.

Bayern’s leading scorer was Dusko Savanovic (20 points). He was supported by John Bryant (17), K.C. Rivers (12), Nihad Djedovic (12) and Bryce Taylor (10); Alex Renfroe recorded nine assists.

FCBB beat BC Ostende in the semis thanks to strong performances from Dusko Savanovic (17), Nihad Djedovic (15) and K.C. Rivers (11). Ostende finished third in the tournament after beating Bonn 84-60 in the playoff.

The Bundesliga gets under way for Bayern on Friday, 2nd October (20:15 CEST) in the Audi Dome against Cup winners Oldenburg. Their first Euroleague home game takes place later that month (22nd) against EuroCup champions Khimki Moscow.
