Quarter-finals, here we come! With a resounding 3-0 win against MSV Duisburg, FC Bayern successfully advanced to the next round of the DFB Cup. After a shaky first half performance, the FCB ladies came out swinging in the second half to claim the win. Goals from Sara Däbritz (47.), Carina Wenninger (54.) and Eunice Beckmann (79.) secured the important away win.
FC Bayern's American Kristie Mewis also made her starting eleven debut today for the injured Caro Abbe which ended with a successful performance. The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup will take place on November 7/8. Whether it will be an away or home fixture has yet to be decided and will be finalized during the draw. FC Bayern are still waiting for their first home match in the Cup in 10 games.
Wörle: "We're on to the next round, that's what matters"
"We knew that with Duisburg we would face a first division calibre team that would make it difficult for us," said coach Thomas Wörle after the final whistle. "We made it too complicated for ourselves in the first half and were a bit lucky after a few defensive mistakes. We should have also taken the lead earlier. Luckily we found solutions in the second half and grabbed the lead quickly. Overall we could have gotten a bigger win but we are on to the next round, and that is what matters above anything."
