FC Bayern Basketball won their final game of 2015 by caging the WALTER Tigers Tübingen 87-73 and head into the new year on a five-game win streak.
Munich ruined the holiday spirits of the sold-out crowd in Paul Horn Arena by racing past the Tigers with a 16-0 run in the first quarter and never looking back. John Bryant sparked Bayern by notching a double-double by halftime and finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Zipser notched 11 points and 4 steals, while Bryce Taylor and Dusko Savanovic continued their recent solid play, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively, with Savanovic adding 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals as well.
Bayern will start 2016 by hosting ratiopharm ulm twice, a team on a win streak themselves. Ulm have won seven BBL games in a row, Munich will look for their sixth consecutive win, with the tip-off at 17:00 CET on Sunday, January 3rd.
After a quick trip to Turkey for their Eurocup Last 32 debut at Banvit Bandirma on January 6th and the BBL All Star Day on January 9th, the Reds will once again host ratiopharm ulm but this time in the Eurocup. Tip-off is Wednesday, January 13th at 20:00 CET in the Audi Dome.

Svetislav Pesic, Head Coach, FCBB: "We started well and I was happy how we played in the third quarter, for me it is the most important quarter. I was not satisfied with the second quarter, after which I asked my players to increase the intensity on defense and the defensive rebounds. I'm happy that my players responded."
Bryce Taylor, Guard, FCBB: "The key was that we controlled their fastbreak and with that we could set the pace. We defended well and overall the game went the way we wanted."
Justin Cobbs, Guard, FCBB: "It's a great experience for me to be here with Bayern. I already feel comfortable, and I have been received well. Of course I will need a little time to completely integrate, but I will try most of all to bring some energy."
For the last game of the calendar year, Head Coach Svetislav Pesic called on Anton Gavel, Bryce Taylor, Nihad Djedovic, Dusko Savanovic and John Bryant to start the game. The Reds got off to a rough start, mainly Bryant. The Calfornian turned over the ball twice that led to a three-pointer and dunk by former Bayern player Aleksandar Nadjfeji for the early 5-0 deficit. But 'Big Country' got back on the right side of the score sheet with consecutive offensive rebounds that led to four points (4-5, 3' minutes). Savanovic's baseline jumper put Munich up 6-5 and Djedovic scored two easy buckets, timeout Tigers (11-5, 5'). Bryant capped the 16-0 run by the Red guests, once again with an offensive rebound tip-in and was fouled for the bonus free-throw (16-5, 6'). Tübingen ended the run with a three-pointer, but team captain Taylor drilled two three-pointers in a row to further extend the lead (22-8, 8'). The Tigers offense woke up to score a few more points to end the quarter, but Bayern's clear edge in shooting (60-33%) and rebounds (12-5) resulted in a 24-13 lead.
Deon Thompson started the second period with a fadeaway 'J', followed by Alex Renfroe and Paul Zipser connecting from beyond-the-arc to distance themselves from their hosts (34-19, 13'). The Tigers once again displayed some bite to keep close, but Bryant controlled the offensive glass and converted the second chances into points, scoring Bayern's final eight points over the final three minutes for the 46-35 halftime lead.
The break did nothing to stop Bayern, as they continued to pour it on with a 7-0 run to start the second half. Thompson finished a thunderous dunk, Gavel with a nice 'catch-n-shoot' three-pointer from the corner, and Taylor drove through the defense for the easy layin (53-35, 23'). When Tübingen started to display some rhythm on offense, Bayern stopped them by creating a timely turnover and starting a fastbreak. Gavel stole the ball, over to Renfroe for the outlet pass to Taylor who was sprinting ahead, he finished off the break with a dunk (59-41, 25'). Gavel sank a trey to give the Reds a 20-point lead (66-46, 27'). The Tigers chipped away at their deficit, but Zipser scored after securing the offensive rebound to give Bayern the 70-54 lead heading into the final quarter.
Bayern's offense built the lead, but it was their defense that would close out the victory. The Tigers continued to turn the ball over, one that led to another Gavel three-pointer (73-57, 32'). Justin Cobbs notched a personal highlight by scoring his first points for Munich, meanwhile Renfroe scored once again from downtown (82-59, 35'). Andreas Seiferth finished Bayern's scoring on the evening by converting a three-point-play (87-66, 39'). Tübingen finished the game on a 7-0 run, but it was too late, the Reds won their fifth consecutive game to finish 2015 on a high.
