At the 'Beko BBL TOP FOUR 2016' in Munich's Audi Dome, FC Bayern Basketball will have to face current German champion Bamberg on Saturday 20th February at 17:00 CET to secure qualification to the final. The draw for the tournament was made by television presenter Annemarie Carpendale.
The second semifinal on the first day of the tournament weekend will be between Alba Berlin and the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt at 20:00 CET, with the final taking part on Sunday 21st February at 14:45 CET.
For the boys from Munich, who are hoping for a first cup win since 1968, it will be a chance for revenge against the Brose Baskets, who beat Bayern in five games in last year's German championship final.
"Bamberg is top of the table and has shown the best performances of any team so far. I think the first game is the most important, as we'll be fresher for it. We'll do everything we can to get to the final. It's obviously an advantage to be playing in our own arena. It'll be a chance for us to win in front of our own fans," said coach Svetislav Pesic after the draw.
"Ultimately, I don't care who we play. If you want to win the cup, you have to beat the best teams, and the best four from the Bundesliga will all be at the Audi Dome. There's no easy draw," said Germany international Paul Zipser.
