The FC Bayern women are back at it – today, coach Thomas Wörle welcomed back his team at training in preparation for the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. The Bayern women have a busy schedule ahead of them in the preseason warm-up, including 30 training sessions in Munich, a one-week training camp near Cadiz, Spain, and a high-profile friendly against the Arsenal Ladies on February 6 in Seville.
“We laid a great foundation for 2016 last year, nothing more,” said coach Thomas Wörle. “We’ll continue to work hard to head into the season restart on the right foot.”
All FC Bayern players will be available for preseason training with the exception of Katie Stengel and Kristie Mewis (returned to the U.S. before winter break) as well as long-term injured players Sarah Romert, Katharina Baunach, and Lena Lotzen. Mana Iwabuchi will rejoin the squad after recovering from injury.
With a record lead of 12 points clear atop the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga, the FC Bayern women return to league action at home at the Grünwalder Stadion on February 14 against 1. FC Köln. The FCB women’s DFB-Pokal campaign continues with the semifinal encounter at SC Sand on April 3.
