The FC Bayern women were kept to a 1-1 (0-0) draw after a last-minute equalizer in their top clash against Wolfsburg. Captain Melanie Behringer gave the Bayern women the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute until Tessa Wullaert’s late equalizer for the Wolves in the last minute of the game (90’).
Wolfsburg ‘s chances came mainly in the first half while Bayern’s came in the second half of the game, with a just result in the end. As a result, the Bayern women maintain their lead 12 points clear of Wolfsburg in second, adding to their league record for a total 37 games undefeated.
Coach Thomas Wörle made three changes from last week’s lineup against Köln – Tinja-Riikka Korpela was back in goal, Lisa Evans and Vivianne Miedema started in place of Mana Iwabuchi and Nicole Rolser.
The Bayern women started out strong until the Wolves took control of the game, dominating after the first 15 minutes and causing Bayern to play defense. The score remained 0-0 heading into the break.
FC Bayern put on a different display in the second half creating a number of opportunities – eventually captain Melanie Behringer’s shot from over 30 yards out made it into the far corner to give Bayern the 1-0 lead (58’). Wolfsburg followed up in their attack but were held at bay for the remaining half hour until Wullaert’s late equalizer in the 90th minute, ending the top clash with a deserved 1-1 draw.
