The FC Bayern women contested a friendly against the Arsenal Ladies to end their week-long training camp in Andalusia, ultimately falling 1-3 (0-1) to the English side. Coach Thomas Wörle made use of almost all the squad, with only Sara Däbritz and Manuela Zinsberger playing the full 90 minutes. New signing and U.S. U-23 international Claire Falknor came on midway through the second half to make her debut with FC Bayern.
It was the scoring opportunities that ultimately decided what was a highly entertaining game. Jordan Nobbs opened the scoreline to give Arsenal the lead early on (6’). FCB’s Sara Däbritz equalized after the second half (51’), though Arsenal answered back with a brace by Natalia de Pablos (61’, 69’) for a final score of 1-3 to the Gunners.
The FCB women joined the Arsenal Ladies for a joint dinner before returning to Munich the following day. The team has one week left to prepare for the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga season restart next Sunday, February 14 at 2 pm CET when they host 1. FC Köln at the Grünwalder Stadion.
