FC Bayern captain and Germany international Melanie Behringer (30) has extended her contract with FC Bayern (currently in place through June 30, 2017) for two additional years through June 30, 2019.
“We’re glad to have been able to secure our captain long-term and further our goals with this contract extension,” said manager Karin Danner. “Melanie knows how to win titles. With her strengths and experience our team will maintain quality and stability in the long run.”
“I’m proud and happy that I’ll be able to play at Bayern Munich in the future,” said Melanie Behringer. “I have a tremendous amount of fun and want to continue down this successful path. There’s a lot of potential in our team and it’s a great privilege to be a part of this great development. A big ‘thank you’ to all those responsible and the whole team at FC Bayern for putting such great trust in me.”
Coach Thomas Wörle: “Melanie is a central figure in our game and the link between defense and attack; she plays with dominance. She gets stronger with age and make strides every day as captain – it’s impressive. In addition to that, she interprets her role as a leader on the team in a special way, both on and off the field. I’m very happy that Melanie Behringer will continue to play for FC Bayern Munich over the next three years.”
