Following a successful visit in 2014, FC Bayern Munich will return to the US with the “Audi Summer Tour 2016” and participate in the “International Champions Cup” (ICC) from July 25 through August 4, in preparation for the upcoming season. This will be the first time FC Bayern will participate in the ICC, which will feature three high-profile games in three major US cities.
About the ICC
The International Champions Cup is a high-profile international pre-season soccer tournament started in the United States in 2013. Since, it has featured 20 elite teams from across Europe and the US spanning more than 30 venues on four different continents, including a record-breaking game in 2014 at the “Big House” in Michigan between Manchester United and Real Madrid attended by the largest-ever crowd for a soccer game in US history. In 2015, the ICC expanded globally, with three concurrent tournaments running in the US, Australia and China.
This year, the 2016 ICC will feature the strongest field of competitors yet, with 10 global powerhouses from across the world competing in what has become a global property in four short years. Along with FC Bayern, the ICC in 2016 will include Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Leicester City FC, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Inter Milan, and Celtic FC all across North America and Europe! The Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia will serve again as host to some of Europe’s finest, including Juventus FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético de Madrid, and local A-League side Melbourne Victory. In China, the first team announced has been Manchester City FC, with two more to come.
