FC Bayern Munich has signed Anna Gerhardt from 1. FC Köln. The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a two-year contract until 30 June 2018. Gerhardt has progressed through Germany’s U15, U16, U17 teams and currently plays in the national U19 team.
"Anna is a young, very talented winger," Thomas Wörle said of his new signing. “She’s two-footed, a goal threat and dynamic. I see her having great potential for development, and I’m confident that she’ll take the next step in her career with us. Anna has taken up the challenge at Bayern Munich and I am looking forward to working with her from this summer."
After putting pen to paper, Gerhardt added: "For me, this move to FC Bayern is a huge sporting and personal challenge. I want to take the next step here in Munich and am really looking forward to being a part of this successful team."
Alongside Gerhardt’s signing another team personnel issue has been resolved for the upcoming season. Midfielder Sarah Romert has renewed her contract for a further year until 30 June 2017. The 21-year-old from Allgäu, who has suffered some injury setbacks in recent years, has been with Bayern since 2011 and is looking to rediscover her form in the coming season.
Romert said: "I am happy that I was able to extend my deal here. The last few years have not been easy for me, but now I want to get involved again and look forward to the upcoming season at Bayern Munich."
"Unfortunately Sarah has had a lot of injuries in the last couple of years,” Thomas Wörle said. “This has not been an easy time for her. But we all firmly believe that she will be back in regular training soon, and will give her the patience and support necessary, so that she can return to the kind of form she showed before her knee injury."
