They just keep on winning! The FC Bayern women were successful in their final away game of the season in their 1-0 victory over SGS Essen over the weekend thanks to a lone goal from Vivianne Miedema.
Coach Thomas Wörle made three changes to his lineup from last week’s title-clinching game vs. Leverkusen, bringing on Manuela Zinsberger, American Claire Falknor and Carina Wenninger for Tinka-Riikka Korpela, Leonie Maier, and Sara Däbritz.
Essen entered the game with confidence-boosting 6-0 rout over Werder Bremen from the previous week while FC Bayern came off their title-winning 5-0 victory over Leverkusen. Essen increasingly put Bayern’s defense to work, though both sides had an equal amount of opportunities and ultimately ending the first half goalless. After the break, Miedema took advantage of the Bayern counter-attack, scoring the decisive goal from 17 yards out (51’), earning the newly crowned German champions their final victory on the road of the 2015/16 season.
