Germany will encounter Australia, Chile and the winners of next year's African Cup of Nations at the Confederations Cup in Russia next summer. The draw for the tournament was staged in Kazan on Saturday. Jelena Issinbajewa, Olympic winner in pole vaulting, drew the lots, placing Joachim Löw's troops in Group B.
The Germans will encounter Australia in Sochi on 19 June before taking on Chile in Kazan on 22 June. The world champions will contest their last group match against the winners of next year's African Cup of Nations, which will be decided in Gabon in February, on 25 June.
Renato Sanches and his Portuguese compatriots will encounter hosts Russia, New Zealand and Mexico in Group A. The European champions take on Mexico in their first match in Kazan on 18 June. Russia and New Zealand will contest the opener in St. Petersburg on 17 June. The final will also be staged in St. Petersburg on 2 July.
