Sven Ulreich interviewed

'I'm ready for tomorrow'

On Wednesday evening Sven Ulreich will make his competitive debut this term. The 28-year-old will feature between the sticks in the Champions League encounter with FC Rostov as number one keeper Manuel Neuer misses out with a tight calf. Ulreich will make his fourth appearance in a competitive fixture for Bayern and his second Champions League appearance overall. However, the netminder has contested a total of 28 European matches so far. He made his debut in Europe's elite club competition in the 2-0 victory away to Zagreb eleven months ago. Ulreich talked to during the trip to Rostov.

Interview: Sven Ulreich Sven, you'll feature between the posts on Wednesday evening. How excited are you?

Ulreich: Of course I'm glad I'll play. I exercise for opportunities like this one after all. Compared to the other trips with the team, in what ways is this trip different for you?

Ulreich: I'm a bit more focused indeed. There's a certain tension. It'll be your first appearance since the US tour at the beginning of August. How fit are you feeling?

Ulreich: I'm feeling fine, and I'm ready for tomorrow. I always exercise with the team as usual, and I prepare for every game as if I'd make an appearance. Besides, I have some experience, internationally and in the Bundesliga. How busy do you think you're going to be at the Olimp-2 stadium?

Ulreich: I think I won't have too much to do, just like Manu (Manuel Neuer) usually does. However, the main thing is to perform in the decisive situations. If you could choose what happens, what kind of game comes to mind?

Ulreich: First I hope I'll find my way into the game. The procedures are a bit different from training routine, we usually play on smaller fields. It would be nice if I could show what I'm capable of once or twice. And of course we want to win the match, ideally with a clean sheet.
