Following Manuel Neuer’s injury, Sven Ulreich will be between the sticks for FC Bayern in the home game against Mainz and for the rest of the season. The 28 year-old has made four appearances so far this season, including three earlier this month. Ulreich answered three questions ahead of the clash with Mainz:
Sven, how difficult will it be to switch back to the Bundesliga after that cruel Champions League exit?
Ulreich: “Obviously we’re all still a bit disappointed but now it’s about fully concentrating on the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup. We want to lift these two trophies. First of all we want to secure the title as soon as possible.”
What sort of game do you expect against Mainz?
Ulreich: “Mainz will give their all in this game. You need to do that when you’re fighting relegation. It won’t be easy but I believe we have the quality to dominate teams like that at home.”
With Manuel Neuer injured, you’ll be called on for the rest of the season. How much are you looking forward to it?
Ulreich: “First of all it’s a real blow for Manu and I wish him all the best again in his recovery. But of course I’m pleased that I’ll be able to play a few games for the team again and show what I can do.”
